Under Armour is giving special treatment to its release of a new colorway of Stephen Curry’s latest basketball shoe. The sole of the Under Armour Stephen Curry 4 Low remains unchanged from the High version. That's a good thing when it comes to the great multi-directional traction pattern, but most experts would have loved an upgrade to the cheap and minimal EVA cushioning setup. The cheap synthetic upper materials of the High version are largely replaced by more premium and comfortable textile knit. Overall, the Curry 4 Low is a slight improvement over the high-top and the perfect shoe for quick guards who are looking for a light, responsive, and minimal low-top.
I love how light and minimal the Curry 4 Low feels. Traction and cushion remained unchanged from the High-Top, but materials and fit are much improved. I think the Curry 4 Low is an upgrade to the original version and I really love to play in them. The Curry 4 Low offers great traction and stability for low-to-the-ground guards that prefer to be quick on their feet. Better materials and fit compared to the Highs. But the same lackluster cushioning prevents these shoes from being a top performer. On the court, the Curry 4 Low doesn’t really do anything better than the mid, plus I had some heel slip.
The company said it is inviting Bay Area fans to engage in a scavenger hunt on Saturday to find locations where autographed pairs of the latest Curry 4 are being delivered via drone. Maryland basketball will wear these Curry 4s at No. 1 Michigan State. Why play the top team in the country if you’re not going to flex a little?
Maryland men’s basketball is taking full advantage of its Under Armour partnership and rocking some new team edition Curry 4s against No. 1 Michigan State on Thursday. The Terps have a difficult task ahead of them, but they’re riding a seven-game winning streak after a win over Penn State on Jan. 2, and these kicks should give them even more confidence.
